U.S. flavors are taking shape by the lifestyles of Gen Z, Gen Alpha, and Millennials…

Gen Z (born 1997-2012)

1. Global Fusion – Bold international flavors continue to captivate Gen Z. Think Korean Gochujang BBQ sauces, Thai-inspired chili-lime dressings and Indian tikka marinades.

2. Spicy & Tangy – Heat with a twist of tanginess is popular. Sriracha honey sauces, tamarind chili dressings, and spicy pineapple marinades are trending.

3. Sustainability & Health – Clean labels and eco-friendly packaging matter. Sauces and dressings with organic, non- GMO ingredients, and less sugar are in demand.

4. Functional Ingredients – Adaptogenic and superfood-infused products are gaining traction. Marinades with turmeric, dressings with matcha, and sauces featuring moringa are examples.

Gen Alpha (born 2013-present)

1. Mild and Sweet – This younger generation prefers milder flavors with a touch of sweetness. Think honey mustard dressings, teriyaki marinades, and sweet barbecue sauces.

2. Interactive and Fun – Products that encourage creativity are favored. Sauces in squeezable bottles, dressings with colorful ingredients, and seasonings that change color when mixed.

3. Nut-Free and Allergy-Friendly – Parents seek out sauces and dressings free from common allergens. Sunflower seed butterbased dressings and coconut aminos as a soy sauce substitute are popular.

Millennials (born 1981-1996)

1. Complex and Chef-Inspired – Millennials appreciate sophisticated flavors. Black garlic aioli, truffle-infused marinades, and umami-rich miso dressings are in demand.

2. Plant-Based Options – Vegan and plant-based sauces and dressings are essential. Cashew cream-based dressings, tahini marinades, and beet ketchup are examples.

3. Ethical and Local Sourcing – This group values transparency and locally sourced ingredients. Dressings featuring local herbs, marinades with small-batch honey, and fair-trade spices are preferred.

4. DIY and Customization – Millennials enjoy creating their own flavors. Customizable seasoning kits, build-your-own sauce packets, and modular marinades are popular.
